Itinerary

DAY 1 - DEC 9 - WELCOME TO MELBOURNE

Check-in

  • After you checkin in to your 4.5 star hotel, the day is yours to explore the best that Melbourne has to offer!

  • We recommend:

    • Hiring a car and exploring the great ocean road

    • Take a short walk to explore the many cafes, restaurants and shops 
that the city has to offer

    • Try your luck down on the Yarra River at Melbourne’s Crown Casino 


Dinner

  • We’ll all meet down in the lobby at 7pm, hand out your packages and then head out for dinner as a group to one of Melbourne’s local establishments. This is a great opportunity for everyone to meet and get to know one another.

DAY 2 - DEC 10 - MEET THE PLAYERS

  • For those interested in getting up close and personal with some of the worlds best golfers, royal Melbourne will be open to the public today which is a great chance to get a selfie with your favourite player, or get a golf ball signed by a few of the pros!

1100 Crown Towers - Presidents Cup fan experience opens

  • For those that would rather stay in the city, the Presidents Cup fan experience opens at 11:00am down by the Yarra River at Crown Towers!

Dinner

  • Dinner out in the city with your fellow supporters!

DAY 3 - DEC 11 - 1 DAY TO GO

1030 International Team Practice

  • For those who missed out on seeing the teams practice yesterday, today there is another opportunity to see the both teams make their final preparations before play gets underway tomorrow.

 Dinner & chant practice

  • Its the night before the presidents cup!

  • All our supporters from both groups will be in town which means its time to get together, go through the events of the next four days, dust off our vocal cords and practice our chants!

Bar crawl

  • After dinner we’ll be hosting a bar crawl from 9pm for all our supporters!

DAY 4 - DEC 12 - TEE OFF

0900 Bus departs the hotel for Royal Melbourne Golf Club

1030 head to the first tee to enjoy our reserved seating in the first three rows

1130 trophy ceremony
1200 foursomes or fourball begins

  • The first day format will either be foursomes or fourball. Day 2 format will consist of whatever format was not chosen on day 1.

  • Once we’ve seen off all the players, we’ll follow particular groups around the course. We stick together as a group so we can chant together and and see as many different pairings as we can

1700 after play finishes, the bus will depart Royal Melbourne to take everyone back to the hotel

Dinner followed by drinks in the city

DAY 5 - DEC 13 - DAY 2 OF PLAY

0800 bus departs the hotel for Royal Melbourne Golf Club

1100 head to the first tee to enjoy our reserved seating in the first three rows

1130 second round of competition commences

  • The format for day 2 will be either foursomes or fourball, whichever wasn’t played on day 1

  • Once we’ve seen all the players tee off, we’ll follow particular groups around the course. We stick together as a group so we can chant together and and see as many different pairings as we can

1700 after play finishes, the bus will depart Royal Melbourne to take everyone back to the hotel

Dinner followed by drinks in the city

  • It’s Friday night! So, to make the most of it we’ll be bar hopping around the city to show you as much as this city has to offer!

DAY 6 - DEC 14 - DAY 3 OF PLAY

0500 bus departs the hotel for Royal Melbourne Golf Club

0600 head to the first tee to enjoy our reserved seating in the first three rows

0630 third round of competition commences (foursomes)

  • Once we’ve seen all the players tee off, we’ll follow particular groups around the course. We stick together as a group so we can chant together and see as many different pairings as we can

1200 fourth round of competition commences (fourball)

1700 after play finishes, the bus will depart Royal Melbourne to take everyone back to the hotel

Dinner followed by drinks in the city

  • It’s been a long day! For those wanting a good nights rest, this is the perfect night to recharge the batteries in time for the final day of play on Sunday. For those wishing to venture out into the city, we’ll be going bowling and bar hopping after dinner!

DAY 7 - DEC 15 - DAY 4 OF PLAY

1100 head to the first tee to enjoy our reserved seating in the first three rows

1200 fifth & final round of competition commences (12 singles matches)

  • Once we’ve seen all the players tee off, we’ll follow particular groups around the course. We stick together as a group so we can chant together and see as many different pairings as we can

1700 after play finishes, the bus will depart Royal Melbourne to take everyone back to the hotel

Dinner followed by drinks in the city

  • It’s our last night together! Hopefully we’ll be celebrating a victory with a big night out together in the city!

DAY 8 - DEC 16 - SO LONG FOR NOW

It’s time to say goodbye to your fellow supporters and tour leaders and reminisce on the great times we’ve all had together over the past week!

Let’s do it all again… See you in 2021!

We’re a family friendly group who welcome supporters of all ages & nationalities, including children and seniors alike! We’re passionate about adding atmosphere to the event by chanting & singing player specific songs & interacting with players.

We The People are the official supporters group for the Presidents Cup 2019 & are fortunate to receive such VIP treatment. We love having fun but ask that you adhere to the expectations of WTP & the PGA:

  • Stay as a group with your tour leaders while on the golf course

  • Attend from the beginning of play to the end of play for all 4 days

  • Stand & join in cheering for the players

  • Respect the etiquette of the game

Presidents Cup 2019 Format

The scoring system of the event is 'match play'. The format is drawn from the Ryder Cup and consists of 12 players per side. 10 players are from the standings and two are the Captains picks. The teams will be finalized in September.

Each team has a non-playing captain, for USA Steve Stricker & for the Internationals, Nick Price who are responsible for choosing the pairs in the doubles events, which consist of both alternate shot and best ball formats (also known as 'foursome' and 'fourball' matches respectively). Each match, whether it be a doubles or singles match, is worth one point with a half-point awarded to each team in the event of a halved match.

There have been frequent small changes to the format, although the final day has always consisted of 12 singles matches. The contest was extended from 3 days to 4 in 2000. In 2015 there were a total of 9 foursome doubles matches, 9 fourball doubles matches and 12 singles matches. With a total of 30 points, a team needed to get 15.5 points to win the Cup.
